Remote access not available Saturday, February 7, 4-8 PM

Due to installation of a new switch, remote access to the UDM Libraries Re:Search portal will not be available Saturday, February 7, 4-8 PM. We apologize for any inconvenience; access should be restored no later than 8 PM. The new switch will enhance both speed and reliability of access.

Retrieving Books from the Basement Stacks

Good news: Compact shelving is being installed in the library basement. Please ask at the Check Out Desk for books located in the basement.

Problem: Some books located in the basement will be temporarily unreachable, especially after 5:00PM and on weekends.

Solution: Temporarily unreachable books will be retrieved the following weekday by 10:00AM and held for you at the Check Out Desk.

We apologize for the inconvenience — the basement installation is the next step in making the library a better place for research and learning.

McNichols Campus Library basement CLOSED for construction

Starting Tuesday, January 19, compact shelving will be installed in the basement of the library; for a period of approximately 8 weeks, the basement will be inaccessible to library users, except for the men’s restroom. The handicapped restroom will be available for those using a wheelchair. All library materials in the basement will be retrieved on request by library personnel. To request materials from the basement, please print the catalog entry or fill out a call slip with the call number and title of the item and take it to the Research & Information Services Desk or the Check Out & Customer Service Desk. We apologize for the inconvenience as we continue to improve study and research conditions in the library.

Library Services December 24, 2009-January 3, 2010

Although the McNichols and Corktown Campus Libraries are closed, database access is available 24/7 throughout this period. The Libraries’ catalog will be updated and re-indexed during this time, resulting in periodic unavailability and slow response times. Materials cannot be renewed online until January 5, 2010.

If you have problems accessing the databases or have questions about renewals, please email George Libbey (libbeygh@udmercy.edu). Thank you for your patience during the catalog upgrade process.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! We look forward to seeing you again in January.

UDM Libraries on Facebook

We’re in the process of setting up a Facebook page for the UDM Libraries/IDS.

Sisters of Mercy Digital Collection

The Sisters of Mercy Collection is now live on the Libraries/IDS Research portal. Although the collection was originally created in the early 1960’s, Sr. Gilmary Bauer, R.S.M. has updated the information on the Sisters of Mercy with an introduction to the site.
Featured in the collection are two slide/audio sets that relate the history of the Sisters of Mercy. They give an account of founder Catherine McAuley’s commitment to merciful service and her ministry to those in need and they explain how her vision is still relevant and flexible today.
Please visit this collection on the Libraries/IDS ReSearch portal: Click Here

CINAHL Access Problem

Direct links to CINAHL may not work properly. To access CINAHL, select Ebsco Databases from the database list, then select CINAHL from the list of Ebsco databases.

Academic OneFile access problem

Academic OneFile is not recognizing users logging in through UDM. To access OneFile, go to the Gale Databases link: “http://research.udmercy.edu/find/databases/database_switch.php?resource_id=1179″>79.

Gale Databases are now accessible

The authentication problems for both campus and remote users have been resolved. Thanks you for your patience.

Gale Database Access Problem

The Gale Databases, including Academic Onefile, are not responding through the UDM proxy server. These databases are available through the MeL: Michigan eLibrary link, but will require a Michigan Driver’s License or state ID number for access. We apologize for the inconveniece–this is an issue that needs to be addressed at the Library of Michigan site.
